(This is the fourth in a series of blogs that addresses some of the most commonly held myths about contracting.)

The Myth: A contract candidate is a “lower-level” worker if he/she isn’t already employed.

The Truth: Many contract candidates are unemployed simply because they have just moved into the area, or more likely in this economy, they have been laid off through no fault of their own. If your clients have the “unemployed mindset,” meaning they are reluctant to hire someone who has been unemployed for awhile, you may suggest contracting as a way for them to try out the candidate before hiring them directly.
